Another Thor Sketch

I did another sketch of Thor. He's one I really like sketching freehand with a marker pen.

I did this a couple of days ago. It's a freehand ink sketch of Thor (coloured in on the computer). Once again, it's not pencils but it's done the same as I do my pencils, just with a 1.0mm ink pen.

I've said before that I'm not very good at inking. In this case (sketching freehand with no pencil construction), I'm not bad. It's only when I try and ink my own pencils that I get dissatisfied. For some reason, I lose a lot of the feel of the original drawing whenever I ink over pencils. And I'm NOT going to give an example...

Having a go at a Marvel Spider-man Cover

Ok, so I've always wanted to do a comic book cover. A few days ago I had a crack at a Spider-man Iceman issue that I have at home. It's all pencils and I may change the "Iceman" figure a bit, but it's mostly how I want it.

My backgrounds were never anything special (as you can see), but I will be working on them from now on. And I will be working on my, uh...(oh God...) ... inking too! Actually I'm working on lots of things (um, composition, proportion, perspective... all those handy little things that my teacher in school told me about and I didn't listen to because I thought that art had nothing to do with comic art!)

So any pro artists looking at this will have to forgive me for my mistakes. When I say I'm self-taught, I mean it.

Drawing again!

Well, I'm drawing again. It's been a LONG time, believe me. I'll stick with what I know best for now and that's (you guessed it) - SUPERHEROES!!! So here's a sketch I did of the irresistibly cute, Rogue.

I'll have to check some recent comics to make sure that that's still her uniform, etc. I'll probably do a few supers for starters, and then after that, some comic heroes and then maybe some super-heroes and then...
